Citation
Description This paper analyses two books by Georges Simenon – the psychological novel Three Bedrooms in Manhattan and the detective novel Maigret in New York's Underworld. The first describes the love story of two emigrants and reflects the author's subjective feelings after his arrival in the USA in 1946. Maigret in New York's Underworld was written shortly afterwards. A concise comparison uncovers the subjective motives which led the author to write both these books.
