Description The author defines the postmodern period which is distinguished by a high degree of uncertainty and instability of the social world. This time brings the feeling of insecurity, loneliness and loss. The uncertainity and volatility culminates directly into the mistrust and anxiety. The feeling of anxiety is a source of frustration which can be manifested in the violence, hostility and xenophobia. Everyday fears of safety, property, home, street or neighborhood are transferred into the general concern for the law and the order, and more and more anxieties are concerned with the foreigner. The author conciders the situation of foreigners in the Czech Republic and in the EU. She is concerned herself with legislation. The author promotes the concept of discrimination and the discriminatory elements of the immigration policy in the Czech Republic. She points out the worsen situation of mixed marriages.Social and economic distress can lead to the social deviations.
