Description Allergic rhinitis often represents the initial phase of a more serious disease such as astma. Diagnosis of occupational allergic rhinitis is a complex procedure. Nasal-specific provocation test is the most characteristic test. This method employs measurement of the flow and resistance of the air through nasal cavity by rhinomanometry, before and after exposing the nasal mucous membrane to suspect allergen. Subjective nasal symptoms are scored by Symptom Score. The author has analyzed 92 cases of occupational rhinitis, which were diagnosed and noted as an occupational disease in southern Moravia (more precisely, the Occupational Medicine Clinic at St. Anne's University Hospital Brno and Faculty of Masaryk University in Brno) in the period from 1/1/2003 to 31/12/2007. The author has compared the symptom scores at the time of detection of occupational disease and one year after.
