Keywords A. L. Kennedy; contemporary Scottish novel
Description Although hailed as a new Scottish talent in the 1990s, A.L. Kennedy problematises the specificity of Scottishness. The focus of her narrative lies in the depth of her characters' psyche and in the workings of the text. Both appear to be rebellious: the experimental text in its defiance of the critic and critical theories, the characters in their angry idiosyncracies.
