Description The article deals with the reading with understanding by the hearing impaired children. The aim of the article is to refer importance of the ability to read with understanding by children with hearing impairment. This form of the communication is one of the successful communication with hearing people. In the article is presented a research, which was realized in the diploma thesis of Bc. Jana Lukáčová „The reading with understanding by children with hearing impairment“. The aim of this thesis was to reveal the process by which reading skills are acquired, the written words are absorbed and how reading skills are acquired by hearing impaired people, as well as how reading skills are taught. The another aim of the empirical part of the thesis was to create a tailor made teaching aid helping to teach of reading for pupils with hearing impairment. The teaching aid is a reading-book specifically adapted for young pupils in the 6-10 age range.
