Description Breast cancer is a very heterogeneous group of tumors with different malignant potential, etiopathogenesis, prognosis and treatment modalities spectrum.Traditional histopathological classification, which is based on morphological appearance, divided in ductal carcinoma, lobular and others. The current stage of targeted cancer therapy based on the study of the expression of hormone receptors and gene and protein expression profile of tumors. Based on these profiles with breast malignancies divided into 4 groups - differentiation carcinomas with luminal A, luminal differentiation of B, HER2-positive tumors and so-called triple-negative tumors. The presence or absence of expression of hormone receptors and HER2 protein is a decisive factor for the indication of systemic treatment modalities in a comprehensive multimodal therapy for breast cancer, a chemotherapy, hormonal therapy and finally targeted therapy. The absence of expression of hormonal receptors, and conversely overexpression of HER2 protein are parameters that significantly influence the prognosis of the disease. From this perspective, especially prognostically significant groups of carcinomas with basal differentiation, ie, HER2-positive and triple negative.
