World-class research

Masaryk University is a research-oriented institution of higher education. Its research activities are not limited to the Czech Republic: Masaryk University researchers work on every continent. The university even operates the first Czech Antarctic station where scientists are engaged in long-term research of the ecosystem.

Research is one of the top priorities of Masaryk University. The university intensively cooperates with acknowledged international universities and research institutions. Its scientists and scholars have gained wide international recognition in various fields.

A key role in research activities is played by the CEITEC – The Central European Institute of Technology. It is a consortium of six partners including the most prominent universities and research institutes in Brno. Its laboratories for nearly 600 scientists and more than 1,200 students, equipped with first-class technologies, create optimal conditions for both basic and applied research in the fields of life sciences, advanced materials and technologies.
