Masaryk Days March 2-3, 2023

The traditional event dedicated to the legacy of the philosopher and first president T.G.M. will this year focus on the responsibility of intellectuals and their social role.

On the first day, Masaryk Days will commemorate the personality of Sir Roger Scruton, who, like T. G. Masaryk, focused on cultivating the idea of the university and contributed to its preservation in normalized Czechoslovakia. Sophia Scruton, Barbara Day, Daniel Kroupa, Petr Pithart, Miroslav Pospíšil, Jiří Müller, Stanislav Balík and Petr Oslzlý will be the guests. The program is for invited guests only.

In the evening, Masaryk Days will be accompanied by a free concert by the band Plachý host.

On the second day of the programme, the current situation of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict will be discussed by prof. Andrej Borisovič Zubov, as a representative of the educated people resisting the totalitarian political regime, will be followed by Michael Žantovský, Jaroslav Kurfürst and Petra Kuchyňková. Finally, the new book by Prof. Zdeněk Kříž: The Journey from Russia will be presented. Russian aggression against Ukraine and its consequences.
