Masaryk Days 2024

The Masaryk University Cultural Centre invites you to a traditional programme dedicated to the legacy of the philosopher and first president TGM. Tomáš G. Masaryk lived in a time that was also very turbulent in many respects. For us it was and is the experience of the pandemic, the war in Ukraine, economic problems and many situations of tension and war in the world.

The fifth edition of the Masaryk Days will be devoted to the theme "Restless World". After the commemoration of TGM on Komenský náměstí, Masaryk Days will be followed by a lecture by prof. A. L. Feldestein's talk will focus on the phenomenon of anti-Semitism in history. We will also commemorate the legacy of Sir Roger Scruton by presenting the R. Scruton Award. The theme of the troubled world will also appear in a discussion with leading Czech experts on the "hotbeds" of contemporary world conflicts: J. Fingerland (CRO Prague), P. Hlaváček (UK Prague, Forum 24), J. Holzer (FSS MU), Z. Bechna (FSS MU) and J. Pazderka (ČRO Plus). The Masaryk theme will be commemorated with a lecture by T. Klementová, a book launch by E. Lustigová and M. Pilátová and a closing concert by opera singer I. Troupová. Masaryk Days will be accompanied by a travelling exhibition Masaryk and the Holy Land.

Admission to the Masaryk Days is free of charge upon prior registration from the website.
