Objectives: provides training activities and tools aimed at making judges, prosecutors, and lawyers familiar with the European rule of law, the principles of mutual trust and mutual recognition, and freedom of expression standards. Its main focus are the standards concerning independence, impartiality, accountability and freedom of expression of the abovementioned justice professionals. In doing so, it aims at enhancing the contribution of these professionals to the protection of fundamental rights, ultimately benefiting the rule of law in the Member States.
Activities: training at least 500 justice professionals within 12 cross-border trainings (WP2-3); developing an e-repository of training materials in English and national languages (WPs 2 and 3); developing an active network of practitioners formed between representatives of the consortium partners, associate partners and trainees (WPs 1-4); updating the TRIIAL 2 database with new European and domestic caselaw (WP2-4); disseminating rule of law and fundamental rights standards at the national level based dissemination and cross-border training events (WP 1-4); collection and development of training tools to be included in the e-Justice portal (Wp 4).
Type and number of persons benefiting from the project: Directly approx. 500 judges, prosecutors, and lawyers, some of whom are legal trainers; Indirectly, EU citizens, civil society, national legislators, EU policy makers.
Expected results: Increasing awareness about the impact that judicial cooperation techniques have in the implementation of the fundamental rights’ legal framework, particularly; Increasing ability of legal practitioners to promote rule of law through in their everyday work; Fostering cross-sectoral and cross-border cooperation in the promotion of the rule of law.
Type and number of deliverables to be produced: 12 cross-border trainings on 12 different themes, based on ‘training the trainers’ paradigm; e-repository of training materials containing: 12 thematic training packages; video-recorded lectures and roundtable cross-border discussions among justice professionals; approx. 390 case annotations dedicated to the RoL themes covered by the Project to be upload in the publicly accessible CJC database; final dissemination event.
