The project examines the crisis and survival of political parties in Central Europe, with a particular focus on the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Poland. Despite its significant political
relevance, this topic remains under-researched, with important implications for the stability and
quality of representative democracy in the region, as well as for intra-party democracy. The
project will include both established parties formed in the 1990s and newer parties, particularly
those in which the leader plays a crucial role. Specifically, it will explore party organization,
assessing member and supporter loyalty, the role of party elites and leaders, and the influence
of party identity.
