The project deals with the neglected phenomenon of single-issue voters in multiparty systems
(those who derive their voting decisions solely from party positions on a single issue). It
proposes a longitudinal study in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, examining the stability of
single-issue orientations and their linkage to other voter characteristics (such as satisfaction
with politics, likelihood of voting for particular parties or attitude/issue extremity). In the
experimental part, it examines the instruments with which issue intensity can be influenced. In
addition to its theoretical and empirical contributions, the proposal also claims methodological
relevance by using novel metrics to measure issue intensity preferences.
