The project focuses on individual barriers to choosing a mode of transport for tourist travel and on factors influencing the transition to more sustainable transport. The research is based on a discrete choice experiment (DCE) in which respondents in the Czech and French markets choose between high-speed rail (HSR), air travel, and bus travel for a hypothetical trip within the EU. The scenarios differ in price, time, comfort, station accessibility, frequency of connections, and risk of delays. The aim is to identify which attributes are most important in decision-making and what role personal attitudes to comfort, price, and sustainability play. Furthermore, the project aims to identify which individual barriers travellers face that are important for choosing a mode of transport when traveling on vacation. The data that I will obtained will be analysed, and subsequently, attributes that are important in the choice of transport mode can be identified and should be further focused on, for example, in transport policy to strengthen elements of sustainable development. The results will contribute to a deeper understanding of decision-making processes in transport choice and could support effective transport policy design.
