SOLACE (Solidarity-Oriented Local Action for Civic Empowerment) investigates how journalism can address housing exclusion through narrative change and civic impact. Building on recent advances in solidarity journalism, the project designs and tests a structured media intervention focused on reshaping public discourse around homelessness. Combining comparative field research, newsroom collaboration, and a longitudinal panel survey, SOLACE evaluates how journalistic framing influences solidarity, stigma, and civic engagement across different media systems. Implemented across the U.S. and Czechia, the project offers scalable tools for journalists, educators, and civic actors working to strengthen inclusive public communication. Hosted by CU Boulder and Masaryk University, SOLACE advances interdisciplinary research at the intersection of media, social policy, and democratic resilience—aligning with Horizon Europe’s goals of equity, inclusion, and societal impact.
