Language proficiency, de-risking and critical reading/thinking in AI use in Chinese Studies (LANG-DE-RISK)

The project aims to achieve the following objectives: 1) to equip the teachers with awareness about the controversy associated with certain AIs (such as DeepSeek), so that 2) the teachers can train students how to effective raise the quality of their language production, while 3) remaining politically aware of the ideological shortcomings of those AIs. In addition, AI will used as a tool for generating intentionally problematic texts, which the teachers will ask the students to critique so that 4) the students’ critical reading and thinking skills can be trained. The project also 5) aims to exchange good and bad practices with a top teacher-training institution in Taiwan, to raise the team’s long-term AI-teaching capacity. The sustainability of the project is high, as the knowledge and know-how will stay and no subscription fee will be required after the end of the project.
