| Description | The history and present of Gynecology - Obstetrics Department in Brno is described. Separate Maternity Hospital on Obilní trh was established in 1888 (Professor Hubert Riedinger). Leadership of the hospital and departments were gradually ensured by Professors: Antonín Ostrčil, Gustav Müller, Ludvik Havlásek, Herbert Rossenbeck and others. Since 2001 there has been a merger of the three Gynecological and Obstetric Departments of Faculty Hospitál, led by Prof. Pavel Ventruba. The Department currently has a total of 156 beds and includes two workplace (Obilni trh and Bohunice). Activities in the field of perinatology, reproductive gynecology, urogynecology and assisted reproduction are developed. The Department achieves significant scientific research, educational and therapeutic-preventive results comparable with the universities of this type anywhere in the world. |
