Description The Regulation No 883/2004 on the coordination of social security systems, which presents the framework for social security coordination in the European Union, formulates four basic principles. The principle of the application of a single Member State legislation constitutes the rule that all EU citizens that exercise the right of free movement of persons are subject to the social security system of only one single Member State. In fact, some confusing situation might be raised, especially in cases of multiple cross border activities. The aim of the contribution is to highlight the difficulties arising from the application of the principle, with respect to the relevant case law.
