Description The article deals with countersignature of the decision of the President in the Czech constitutional order. Firstly, it clarifies the very concept of countersignature, its historical roots and the reason of its existence. Then, it focuses on the key issues connected with countersignature of the president's decisions, ie, which decisions may or must be countersigned, what form should a untersignature have, who is entitled countersign a president's decision, who has discretion or what are the legal effects of countersignature. Following this analysis, the article tries to solve some interpretation problems which arose after the announcement of amnesty by the president at the beginning of 2013. In this context, the article concluded that the Prime Minister is clearly entitled to reject his countersignature in case he does not agree with a president's decision for political reasons.
