Description Changes in resting metabolic rate and body composition were investigated in a group of men aged 29-36 years with sedentary lifestyle. Subjects were randomly split into two groups after the initial measurements, one group performed aerobic and second group anaerobic physical activity (PA). The output measurements were performed after 3 months of regular physical activity. Additional data were obtained 6 months after completion of the physical activity program, during which none of the subjects continued exercising. The monitored parameters were mainly differences in value of resting metabolic rate and body composition. Data were collected using the air analyzer Metalyzer Cortex 3B in the Laboratory of Sports Medicine, Faculty of Sports Studies in Brno. After three months of regular physical activity, increase in both absolute and relative values of resting metabolic rate was observed in all subjects. Data measured six months after the end of exercise program do not show such clear results, but we can talk about the trend of re-reducing the resting metabolic rate value. It is confirmed that the value of resting metabolic rate is a dynamic parameter, responding to lifestyle changes.
