Description The article deals with fifteen ceramic chamber pots, mostly preserved in torsos, twelve of which come from the sewage reservoirs or layers from the second half of the 16th century and the 17th century in the built-up area of Brno. These were supplemented by three more recent torsos from the western curtain wall of the castle of Špilberk, dated to the eighteen century by the circumstances of the discovery. The owners of the houses in which the portable hygienic containers were found belonged according to written sources to a wider social spectrum - ranging from members of nobility to craftsmen. The presence of special night containers in the houses of burghers can be considered evidence of a gradually improving standard of living and similarly improving hygienic habits in the middle class.
