| Description | This case study centers on making of a star Jiřina Štěpničková in the period 1930-1945. It explains the historical context of Czech actress's stardom, that was deeply interconnected with 19th century theatrical fame. A set of theoretical terms based on research in star studies was thus employed and translated especially for this subject: star image, star person and star vehicle. All of these are applied to Jiřina Štěpničková, whose theatre background and her own star vehicle are analyzed in order to provide us not only with the detailed description of this star but also the knowledge of the conditions and modes of existence of Czech stardom during this particular era. |
