Description | This experimental study concerning inbreeding depression in the Zebra Finch (Taeniopygia guttata) is a first study in Passeriformes reveals strong negative effect of inbreeding on sperm phenotype. Inbreds had statistically lower quality of ejaculates - lower sperm concentration, higher percentage of abnormal sperm and lower motility. This is probably the cause of poor reproductive success of inbred males. |
