Description The main aim of this paper called Multimedia journalist: Media routines development is the topic of media convergence, which is in the Czech and Slovak context highly discussed in newsrooms but very poorly represented in academic research. Journalistic work is currently more and more multimedialized. There are mainly economic and technology reasons (savings from journalistic roles convergence), why publishers and editor-in-chiefs require from journalists more skills than just “good writing”. We can conclude from the foreign research, that we can not simply generalize, which changes could the process of convergence bring to various types of media. It is yet more testing the possibilities of cooperation between various platforms and trying to find the best solution for the publishers. However we can argue, that convergence of print and on-line media brings significant changes in journalistic work. Multimedia journalists must have more skills than “traditional” journalists – they have to write, take pictures, record audio and video, work on-line, moreover with deadline “the sooner the better”. Convergence of print and on-line media brings the priority of on-line news coverage and moreover often shows problems with journalistic work quality.
