Description There are food items containing specific nutrients that are studied in relation to the treatment of metabolic syndrome (MetSy). Many foods, functional foods and nutraceuticals contain bioactive substances with a potential "pharmacological" activity. This paper discusses the role of such nutritional components that directly affect the individual symptoms of MetSy. Eating foods with a higher content of bioactive substances should be a primary nutritional strategy for each patient with MetSy. Pharmacological and nutritional intervention in MetSy in the context of this work can be seen as an interaction with a joint therapeutic target.
