Description It is increasing number of people over 65 years. Older people have a high prevalence of systolic hypertension and increased cardiovascular risk. Cardio protective therapy reduces the possibility to developing hypertension and the occurrence of serious cardiovascular events. The goals of treatment are to reduce the activity of the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system and the decrease of blood pressure. Are recommended fixed dose combinations of an angiotensin convertase inhibitors or sartans with indapamide and/or with dihydropyridine calcium channels blockers. Treatment must be targeted and individually adjusted.
