Description Constructing the trauma of victim and bystander, hermeneutic analysis explores the texts by two most famous Czech writers over the second part of the 2oth century, A. Lustig and B. Hrabal. Main dimensions for deconstructing collective memory about the WWII, space and time, the origin of evil, cultural codes of victim and bystander, are applied for comparative analysis in order to recognise the therapeutic trajectories of narratives. The consistent differentiation of Lustig’s and Hrabal’s visions aims to substantiate the diversity of the discourses relevant for the war trauma and encouraging the reflections and empathy of readers.
