Description The Czech Republic ranks among countries with the highest colorectal cancer incidence and mortality both in Europe and worldwide. The Czech colorectal screening program has sufficient capacity and is guaranteed by all relevant medical specialties, i.e., general practitioners, gastroenterologists, and gynecologists. However, current coverage of the target population reaches just 25%. In January 2014, a program of personalized invitations was launched in the Czech Republic. The project is coordinated by the Czech Ministry of Health in cooperation with the relevant expert medical societies, representatives of health care payers, and other experts nominated by the Minister of Health. This article describes the methodology of personalized invitations which has been implemented nationwide, its data background, and the preliminary results of the project from the first half of 2014, when almost one million Czech citizens were invited to the colorectal cancer screening program.
