Description This paper examines how crude oil affects Czech Republic, small open economy. Oil’s impact is usually related with its price level. However, according to recent research in this field of energy economics, volatility of oil price is deemed to have more explanatory power than price. Czech industrial production and oil price volatility in CZK are regressed in accordance with literature with mixed results. Negative effect of volatility is observed but with little robustness of the model, which makes further research of this topic mostly interesting and worth further endeavour.
