Citation
Description The authors will highlight the specifics of the grounded theory method, compared to other approaches to qualitative research. Then, the lecture will focus on selected aspects of the method which can be seen as problematic in various empirical studies: analytical procedures (too broad and inflexible research question, the process of conceptualization, resignation from theory creation), epistemological aspects (the possibility of combining different approaches within the grounded theory method, the problems of consensuality) and external validity (theoretical sampling, theoretical saturation, aggregation of results across different studies). The authors will offer their view on these issues and they will search for a "middle way" between methodological purism on the one hand and excessive loosening of the grounded theory on the other.
