Description Analysis of microsatellite markers as useful polymorphic genetic variations helps to characterize different animal species and breeds; moreover, nowadays, it is widely used to parentage control and determining of genetic type in horses. The objective of this incipient study will be to characterize genetic diversity in horse breeds and analyze individual structure of horse populations in Czech Republic. For this purpose, up to 300 horses of different breeds and 52 microsatellite loci are analyzed. After genotyping all samples, the exhaustive data analysis using essential statistical approaches and programs will be provided. The final results of this genetic characterization could be helpful to assure breed integrity and to assign individuals to defined populations.
