Description The discovery of planet Neptune is a most importance event in history of celestial mechanics. Le Verrier and simultaneously Adam applied inverse perturbation theory to the problem of Uranus (determination of orbital elements and mass of yet unknown planet based on irregularities in motion of Uranus). Very complicated computations were successfully finished summer 1846. Neptune was found by Johann Galle using Le Verrier´s predictions in September mentioned year. Mathematical methods and numerical calculations using were not fundamentally flawed. Therefore discovery of Neptune cannot be considered as accidental.
