Description This paper focuses on how, why and what kind of information on planning in the ‘West’ was searched and used by Czechoslovak planners between 1948 and 1989. Based on analysis of professional publications, it uncovers that socialist planners and urbanists were continually learning from their colleagues in the ‘West’. At the same time, it points out the disconnections between the ideas that appeared in the periodicals and publications and the actual practice of planning in Czechoslovakia.
