Description The paper deals with the results of a questionnaire survey among 233 students from a total of 12 higher nursing schools (colleges) in the Czech Republic. The survey was focused on the assessment of students' knowledge about the research work in nursing. A questionnaire survey was conducted as part of an educational "road show" carried out under the auspices of the International Clinical Research Center at University Hospital St. Anna in Brno. The results showed that the students are interested in working in research, but do not know the research nurses´ role and job description and her competences. An important finding is that students perceived deficiencies in patient education as part of the standard care as well as education in the clinical trials.
