Description Venal thrombosis is the third most common circulatory disease. Thrombophilia is a condition where an individual manifests a tendency to thrombotic symptoms. In recent years, apart from the general risk factors, many congenital factors have been described as well (factor V Leiden, prothrombin G20210A, antithrombin or protein C and s defect), along with many acquired factors (and their combinations), which increase the risk of thrombosis. Many studies are currently focused on certain risky polymorphisms, which appear more frequently in the population. So far no other ones have been identified with sufficient frequency in the population to be interesting for everyday practice.
