Description This paper focuses on how technological aspects associated with sound in film can influence and transform also other components of filmmaking, such as film representation, movements of actors and the overall style and aesthetics of film. In this paper, we focus on early sound adaptation and problems associated with the advent of sound into film. The researched material are the film adaptations – they can transfer certain properties of their source texts in the film medium, but they may be influenced also by other external factors, such as financing or production. To demonstrate the influence of the source text or various technological aspects on the early film adaptations we selected two representatives of film adaptations in the 1930s, Innemann s Vražda v Ostrovní ulici and Wasserman’s film adaptation Trhani.
