Description From the large variety of non-traditional teaching methods is the article deals with application of experiential learning in chemistry at the elementary school through the chemical experiments. The first part of the text defines the concept of "experiential learning" and summarizes the theoretical background with emphasis on Dewey's model of experiential learning, Dale´s cone of experience and Kolb's experiential learning cycle. The second part of the text contains a theoretical introduction of chemical experiments in teaching. The last part contains results of the research aimed to map the average rate of remembering with a regard to different teaching methods – lecture, experiment and demostration.
