| Description | A brief review of the history of the water-organ since its invention in the 3rd century BC until the fall of the Western Roman Empire, which resulted in the disappearance of this musical instrument in the Western Europe. Using contemporary literary sources combined with archaeological discoveries, we will focus on the principle of the water-organ, its usage and status in the Ancient society. |
