Description The regions of the European Union are very diverse. We can observe significant differences in their socio-economic development. These differences are apparent in regions both across national states, but also within individual states. The European cohesion policy strives for reduction of these disparities. This policy is implemented through operational programmes. Our paper deals with allocation of financial resources from selected operational programmes and analyses their distribution among Czech regions. We evaluate three operational programmes and 13 Czech regions (Prague is not included due to eligibility conditions). The aim of the article is to assess whether the financial resources are used in the less developed regions and whether the operational programmes contribute to regional reduction of regional disparities. Data on the supported projects are analysed through mathematical-statistical methods.
