Description Work with depressive patients presents a significant load for psychotherapists themselves. While intending to help the depressive patient, the impact of patient´s depression on psychotherapists themselves is often out of focus. A review of systematized clinical observations and both theoretical and research findings on the topic of therapists´own experiencing when working with depressive patient is introduced in the article. Namely two basic interpersonal reactions elicited by exposure to a depression are elaborated: depressed mood induction and rejection of the depressed person.
