Description Thrombotic diseases are new epidemics of the modern civilization and anticoagulation therapy is the basic approach to treatment of these diseases. Anticoagulant therapy involves artificially induced disorders of blood clotting to prevent thrombosis or halt the progression of thrombus already formed. In recent years we have seen the successful development of anticoagulants acting selectively on one factor in blood clotting. In clinical studies are currently underway to extend the range of indications of anticoagulants and provide greater security for their use. Finding the ideal anticoagulant to prevent thrombosis without causing bleeding is a dream that is solved at the level of experimental medicine.
