Description Heart failure (HF) is the final stage of diseases of civilization as hypertension, coronary atherosclerosis, and diabetes mellitus (DM). One of the goals of diabetes treatment is to reduce the incidence of heart failure with the use of cardioprotective antidiabetic agents. In 2015 was completed a few mortality studies with new drag groups in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus and cardiovascular disease. These are studies TECOS, SAVOR and EXAMINE with drugs sitagliptin, saxagliptin and alogliptin, E1IXA study with GLP-1 agonists and study EMPA - REG Outcome with SGLT2 inhibitors. These studies demonstrated cardiovascular safety of new classes of drugs, the study EMPA - REG Outcome offers hope for the amelioration of patients with HF.
