| Description | The paper explores the impact of American culture in Czechoslovakia on an example of mass produced song sheets with cowboy topics. The author shows how the Czech song lyrics reflected stereotypes and ideology of the period. While there was visible American influence in the formal side of the song sheets (cover illustrations, song rhythm), the content of the songs remained close to the Czech imagination. The paper provides an important complementary material to the study of film and magazine westerns. |
