Description Nowadays we live in a world of increasing influence of modern technologies in the areas that were before for human knowledge and interventions totally forbidden. The consequences are also artificial interventions into beginning and development of life in the prenatal period, which is also closely related to the moral and legal questions about surrogacy. So the aim of this paper will be the analysis of the current legal situation of surrogacy in the Czech Republic and its impact on the legal status of not only the legal and biological mother, but also the unborn child. In this context, then we will formulate by using the comparison with foreign legislation and jurisprudence considerations de lege ferenda. These will reflect the fact that surrogacy should not be seen merely as a tool of modern reproductive medicine, but also as an important ethical and legal problem related to uncontrolled development of biomedicine.
