Description A functioning family is the basic environment for the harmonious growth and development of the individual. If the family or outside risks occur, which seriously endanger the health or life of the child, it is necessary to act quickly and take action in their interests. One measure is institutional care in an children’s home, where qualitative research was carried during which four participants were addressed. It was used a structured interview, free observation and case studies. It was found that a significant impact on the psychological and social deprivation and neglect has family. Institutional care seeks to minimize these negative effects and the children prepare for the entry into independent life.
