Description Optical coherent tomography (OCT) is a rapidly developed imaging diagnostic method. Light near infrared spectrum and interferometry techniques are used for formation of in vivo optical scans (tomograms). The current, high-resolution, fourth-generation SD OCT spectral devices allow faster scanning, higher accuracy, higher resolution, and fewer artifacts. This allows non-invasive, contactless examination in children already from 3-4 years of age. Many studies have already demonstrated the feasibility of the OCTs in pediatric patients. However, all OCT devices have an integrated normative database only for adult patients over 18 years of age. Several foreign studies already provide a normative RNFL and macular parameters database for a healthy child population. With the great development of this modern technology, the OCT becomes an indispensable and very beneficial part of investigative techniques for pediatric patients. The main pathological units of retinal and optic nerve diseases in pediatric patients and the contribution of OCTs to their diagnosis and monitoring have been demonstrated.
