Description Mohelnice region was originally an agricultural part of the country with a very complicated historical development during the 20th century. Today most people work in the industry, which has gained a significant position in the region. Instead of many small businesses, the town is pulling out several big employers. One of them is Siemens, whose local branch manufactures electric motors. In its example, we will attempt to map various aspects of the impact of large industrial operations on the development of a small town and its functional region. The number of employees of the Siemens branch in Mohelnice is about one-fifth of the town's population. The rhythm of the factory has so much influence not only on the town but also on its neighborhood. Even prisoners from the nearby Mírov prison work on the production of electric motors. What are the benefits of the region's business and what are the pitfalls of the whole working? On the basis of the data provided by the Siemens plant and the interview with the responsible employee of the plant, an analysis of possible impacts of a significant employer on the selected micro-region was elaborated.
