Citation
Description In the age of the knowledge society where Global English has reversed the strategies of second or foreign language learning and Generation Y is calling for new teaching paradigms, the role of teacher is transformed to that of facilitator who keeps out, letting the learner develop his own way of learning (Allwright, Hanks 2009). Do Coyle's "Four Cs" (2008): Cognition, Content, Culture and Communication offer a complex solution leading to personalised learning where the learner selects the resources that seem relevant to him after conducting a reflective activity on himself and his learning. The objective of my communication is to present the design of customized French courses for international relations students taught at the Faculty of Social Sciences (Masaryk University, Brno, Czech Republic) by situating it in a theoretical and methodological framework. The students participate in the creation of the content of these courses which not only makes them more responsible for their learning, but above all it reinforces their motivation and personal investment. In addition, the integration of disciplinary knowledge into their choice conveyed by the French language is an important factor for a more effective development of language skills.
