Description | OBJECTIVES: The article seeks for ways to use a comprehensive assessment as a linking segment that explicitly connects the study of social deviance to social work. THEORETICAL BASE: The comprehensive assessment is based on functional interconnections among the social ecological social work perspective, needs and risks assessments, and a combination of inductive and deductive questions about the nature of the given problem. METHODS: The text is a theoretical article whose argumentation is based on the principles of the Kuhn’s conception of cumulative science. OUTCOMES: A comprehensive assessment can be used for innovative work with theory, for developing openness among social workers to new knowledge, and for considering the adequacy of pre-prepared solutions. SOCIAL WORK IMPLICATIONS: The article brings new impetus for enhancing the social work education and practice. It offers the opportunity to prepare social workers so that they can address complex problems in a situational manner. |
