Description | While investigating the work of N. S. Leskov (1831-1895) and his Czech reception, the author of the present article observed in his creation several genre shifts from a short story and the dramatic novel towards the chronicle and the skaz narration back to the dramatic novel and a chain of skaz short stories formed by the quasinovel framework. Leskov’s relations to the Czech lands and the Czechs was rather strange, but he was lucky to find his Czech translators, a Catholic monk and priest, historian of Russian literature Alois Augustin Vrzal (1864-1930) the second part of the article is devoted to. |
