Description Recently, the psychosocial paradigm has become very popular, especially in relation to vulnerable populations. The expression “psychosocial accompaniment” emerged in Latin America with the theories by Martin-Baró and Carlos Martin Beristain. As the word “psychosocial” indicates, it combines the individual and the social spheres whose mutual interaction represents the essence of this focus. According to this perspective, all persons are considered empowered and complex human beings who have their own identity, capacities and resources that should be promoted so that they can face the hardship and suffering more effectively. Therefore, the psychosocial interventions are more oriented on the access to education, productive opportunities, but also creative arts and recreational group activities.
